A Study on the Factors Affecting the Adjustment to College Life of Freshmen Majoring in Health Science

Abstract

|
Objectives: This study was to investigate the influencing factors of self efficacy, communication ability, major satisfaction on the college life adjustment of freshmen majoring in health science.
Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted from June 22, 2020 to 24 targeting 181 freshmen majoring in dental hygiene, dental technology, health adminstration. Data were analyzed using descriptive analyses, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS 20.0 program.
Results: The mean score for college life adaptation was 3.33¡¾.47, self-efficacy was 3.22¡¾.68, communication ability was 3.49¡¾.49, major satisfaction was 3.45¡¾.59. Significant positive correlation between college life adjustment self-efficacy, communication ability, major satisfaction.
Factors influencing on college life adjustment were personality, motivation of major selection, self-efficacy, major satisfaction.
Conclusions: Therefore, it is necessary to develop a college life adjustment program that can enhance positive personality, self efficacy and major satisfaction.
